Urgent: Terrorist Bombing Inside St. Elias Church in Damascus Leaves 22 Dead, 63 Wounded |
Damascus, Syria – Observers from the Assyrian Monitor for Human Rights in the Syrian capital, Damascus, report a horrific terrorist attack today, Sunday, June 22. A suicide bomber detonated himself inside St. Elias Church in the Douwela'a neighborhood of Damascus during divine liturgy.
The explosion was preceded by the assailant opening fire on worshippers inside the church, leading to a high number of casualties.
Initial reports indicate a toll of 22 dead and approximately 63 wounded.
